Lymphatic Drainage Massage

What is Lymphatic Drainage?

Lymphatic drainage, sometimes referred to as Lymphatic Drainage massage or therapy, is a massage treatment that aids in the circulation of lymph fluid around the body. This assists the body in removing toxins that can build up at a cellular level and create issues such swelling or infection. It may also help promote immune system response.

What is Lymphoedema?

Primary lymphoedema is a chronic condition that comes about as a result of structural issues with the Lymphatic system itself. This can result in swelling generally in one of the limbs. This condition is treated with a combination of compression, lymphatic drainage therapy and exercise.

Secondary lymphoedema may also be as a result of surgery which can damage or compromise the lymph system which results in the accumlation of fluids in the body, which creates swellling and slower recovery times.
